This section contains downloadable mp3s of my own original songs as well as songs that have been written with songwriter Ren Lehman. Female vocals were provided by Marie Ostler and Lani Rasmussen.

Also in this section you shall find a selection of my renditions/covers of Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits songs.
On these particular tracks all instrumentation and vocals have been reproduced by myself apart from 3 tracks (Brothers In Arms, Telegraph Road and Sultans of Swing), where the backing track has been sourced from Total Accuracy with my lead guitar and vocals recorded on top.

The Recording process 1992 - 1998:
The recordings from 1992 - 1998 (apart from Born To Be Country, which I re-recorded in 1999), were created using a keyboard to play and record on my Roland MV30 sequencer/tone module, and my Roland R8 Drum machine.
I then synced these two machines to a Tascam 488 eight-track 'cassette' Porta-studio by striping track 8 (all tempo changes were created by hand in real-time whilst the sync signal was being recorded). I then took the Tascam group-outs, tracks 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+*, and plugged these four leads into a small mixer to enable the use of the separate outputs on my Drum machine and tone module to be used.
It was crucial to record the correct instruments on the correct tracks as I was using seven tracks of the Tascam, but only 4 outputs into the desk. If the correct tracks were not used it would result in disasters such as bass drum and lead vocal panned left and right, instead of the rhythm guitars. The vocal was recorded using a Shure SM58 and in most cases I used my guitar processor for reverb etc. on the vocals. The guitars were recorded via the guitar processor into the Tascasm.
I had no amp during this time.

Listening to the various Dire Straits recordings, including live performances, I meticulously took note of each instrument part on CD in small sections, often half a bar at one time.
I then sequenced all the parts (except guitars obviously).
I recorded the Dire Straits covers between these dates using the above process (although my 80's recordings were made using a using a miniature Casio keyboard a dual cassette recorder). Those were the days!

The Recording process 1999 - 2004:
I now record using a Korg Triton keyboard/workstation for sequencing backings and record guitars through a Line 6 Flextone II amp onto a Roland VS1680 digital Porta-studio along with the vocals. This excludes Rhythm of Love which was recorded in a professional studio using my midi file.
